Sitemap Generator Questions and Answers about Sitemaps
The last few days I have been working on creating a database covering common questions I have received about Google Webmaster Tools, XML Sitemaps, HTML Sitemaps and the A1 Sitemap Generator program itself of course
The FAQ covers almost everything including how to diagnose and solve crawling errors, handle websites on unstable webservers, scan large websites, questions about XML Sitemaps Protocol, weird Google Webmaster Tool issues, how to configure A1 Sitemap Generator etc.
If you have ever had any questions regarding sitemaps, I highly recommend checking our
sitemapper tutorials and the new sitemap questions and answers database

What is the use of the recrawl button?

I will make sure to answer that in a future FAQ/answer post.
A short explanation is that “recrawl” will recrawl entire website and not just “missing” URLs. Imagine you have a large website where it takes a lot of time to crawl the entire website. In those cases it’s advantageous to have a crawler recrawl the website by prioritizing pages it hasn’t crawled in a long time. (The latter part about prioritize is not fully implemented yet, but it is going to happen at some point.)

Is there a simple faq answer that explains how to download all the podcasts on a web page using A1 Website Download? I am trying to use this and it seems like all I can do is archive an entire website, which is overkill. I think there is probably a way to use it, but a simple faq would close the sale. I don’t want to use and buy 10 different programs that help me download stuff.

Hello all,
I am new to website design, and url’s design and i am therefore doing a lot of experimenting.
I have the following link structure on my website.
http:/example.com/1/2/3/4/
When i run the sitemap generator for the *HTML template sitemap* i find that links are created to directories 2 and 3 which might not contain anything other than the directory which follows. Directory #4 would then contain my index.php page.
Is there anyway i could prevent a link being created to dirctories 2 and 3.
Tahnks in advance.

Yes. Please check the advanced HTML sitemaps tutorial to see where you find the options.
However, it depends how the server responds to those directory requests. If it gives response 200 A1SG will believe it’s an URL you will want included. You can get around this by using list filters. Under all circumstances, feel free to email me/support directly
